Join our dynamic team at Spotlight as an experienced Buyer in the Sew and Fabric department!

Our buying team is critical to delivering the business strategy and overall success of the Spotlight Retail experience.

In this role, you will drive category growth and unleash your creativity by developing commercially relevant product ranges. If you're ready to take your career to new heights and make a significant impact, we want to hear from you!

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Build commercially balanced product ranges in line with company strategy, managing the end-to-end product lifecycle, including product, pricing, and go-to-market plans.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve financial objectives, including sales, profit, and stock turnover.
  • Recognize and interpret trends to build ranges that ensure consistent brand identity.
  • Utilise commercial skills, combined with the ability to analyse customer needs and conduct research, to effectively deliver long-term strategic growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Trade the department in collaboration with the Business Development Manager and planner by optimising profit, maximising sales, and proactively managing marketing and markdowns.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and awareness of competitor and external trends, identifying missed opportunities to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage and inspire your team to achieve success within your category.

 

 

About You:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a category manager or buyer.
  • A degree in merchandise buying or business highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • A data-driven approach, with strong attention to detail and a knack for problem-solving.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and delivering outstanding results.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage supplier relationships.
  • A genuine passion for products.
  • An interest or background in textiles or sewing is a plus.
